CRUZ CHRONICLES #001

Last Saturday, June 29th, me and papa Dax were able to do some Balikatan exercise and field 300 points each of Allies' goodies. Not to mention while sporting the custom map commissioned by papa George and Dax’ custom Turn counter cards!

Date of Battle: June 29, 2013

Battlefield: Neutral Grounds Glorietta, Makati

Army Lists:

Dax' Platoon: 300 PTS
Rhino + The Hammers
The Boss
Hell Boys
BBQ Squad
Recon Boys x2
Bot Hunters
Crack Shots
Wildfire x2
Steel Rain

Marc’s Platoon: 299 PTS
Ozz + Grim Reapers
Action Jackson + Devil’s Own
13 Foxtrot x4
Crack Shots x3
Corps Officers
Steel Rain x2
Rattler

Objective: Area Control

Turn 1:
Positioning was the main focus for both players on the first round. My hero-lead squads maximizing on their mobility, taking the frontlines while not exposing potential alpha strikes opportunity for the opposition. The radiomen and snipers covered as much ground as possible while the walkers stayed behind, with the Rattler being the last unit to be deployed.

Turn 2:
Dax was able to take the initiative for the second round, but the honor of first blood went to my British squad, Assaulting a squad in hiding. It didn't prove to be that fatal though.

Turn 3:
Let’s just say I never won Initiative rolls in this game. Three of the most crucial moments in this round for me: Action Jackson’s squad being able to react, and wipe out, a charging squad; another successful reactive fire attempt from my Steel Rain before being crushed by Dax’ own Steel Rain; and Ozz’ squad, pumped with The Corps’ Stim Kit, decided to take on 2 squads with their 4 activations (with Ozz’ Hero on of course).

All these lucky rolls made Dax decide it’s time we go for some yosi break.

(back to the game after a good 20-30 minute break)

Turn 4:
More shots were fired from both ends. Action Jackson finally fell and Dax’ previously annihilated Steel Rain was returned to deployment by his The Boss. Even with my own Steel Rain being dumped a fresh new set of rockets was not able to make his rival twin go down again.

Turn 5:
Towards the middle of 5th round, Dax only had 3 walkers and a couple of infantry units including The Boss still remaining under his command. I on the other hand still have a lot of my units roaming around taking control of objectives so we decided it’s GG.

Great game overall indeed! Having fielded this army for the first time, I’ve seen a couple of adjustments like combining Jackson with the French guys instead (double Assault anyone?).

Looking forward to get more games in before our event in August. Hopefully I get to cover a 200-point battle next time.
