CRUZ CHRONICLES: OPERATION: PATHFINDER RESULTS!

And just like that we're entering the last few days of the second month of 2014. We just concluded our Dust Tactics tournament for this month. Bin Belano organized this one and named it Operation: Pathfinder. It's an infantry-only bout at 200 APs a side. This is what happens when walkers walk away.

New DT Rule Book is Here

The new rule book for the upcoming Dust Tactics starters is now up! As previously hinted, this is a partial rule book, not the entire Dust Tactics 2.0 rule set. More like an introduction to the game, again.

Here's a few things I've noted:

  • With the removal of the "dots" on the map squares, determining Line of Sight was changed;
  • Field of Fire was introduced, making facing matter for support weapons and most vehicle units;
  • Cover/Infantry Saves replace the Soft/Hard Cover mechanic. Infantry and vehicles can now gain cover from terrain pieces and infantry on open terrain has Infantry Save;
  • Infantry units, with the exception of Heroes, with multiple ranged weapons can only fire one at a time;
  • Introduction of "Pass" for players with less activations available;
  • Changes/rewording/merging of some abilities;
  • New scenarios introduce "Reserves" and allows eliminated units to return to the game.
And some other stuff. Being a partial rule book, a lot is still not covered like aircrafts, fortifications, the command squads among others. As with any change, the new rules were met with mixed reactions within the game's fan base.

Personally, I'm excited with these changes. We tried a game last Saturday using the new rules and we found it really interesting at the very least. Really looking forward to the new starters and the full 2.0 rules. I'll do a battle report the next time we give these rules a spin.

Thanks for checking!
